I don't think it bothers me that much, as I'm guessing the people who insist on a fireplace would hate our house from a lot of other angles too

I live in a new build. Would it be worth putting in a artificial fire? My wife wants one but I am not too sure.
Would it be a positive or negative if you are looking to buy a house? The room is reasonable size.0 -
make no odds to me.
Thought the telly was the focal point for most houses now. As the sofa etc point in that direction.
Do in my mums house and they have a wood burning stove.

yeah all these people saying they like a fire - would an artificial one do? Do people really light fires these days? Seriously I would hate to think that my parents are right!DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

I bought my house because it didn't have a fire place and this really opened up the living room and allowed more scope for change and rearranging furniture etc. However, it is a small house and if I was buying a semi or a detached then I a fireplace would be desirable, but not a must.

Thanks to everyone for your votes and opinions.
