Having a Graduate account and a Student account at the same time?

I originally started uni 4 years ago. Unfortunately I had to leave the course in the third year due to personal reasons. I did not inform my bank that I left the course and they have now sent me a letter informing me my account will automatically be switched to a graduate account.
I have a place on a different course for another 3 years. So I am hoping to get loans but am under no illusions as to my chances of getting another three years of student loans.
My question is this, If I was to allow my account to change to a graduate account, could I open a new Student account with another bank? and have the benefits of both accounts? The conditions my bank have offered for the graduate account (HSBC) are £1500 no interest over draft for the first year, then £1000, then £500.
The other option is to inform HSBC that I will be starting another course, and see if they will increase my overdraft.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
