Ive had my YBS Regular saver account for 10 months now, have been keeping it until the aniversary date in September and was then going to close it as the interest rate has dropped. Ive been making the maximum £500 per month payment but this month, for some reason, I paid into it twice, making my total £1000 for this month. Ive contacted them and theyve basically said that as Ive gone over the maximum amount I wont get the conditional bonus, meaning Ive been earning about 3% average over the year, so annoying!
So this is really a warning to anyone, whatever you do, dont be stupid like me and pay in more than the maximum!

I think that's a bit harsh. How was it stated in the t's & c's and summary?0

I'm sure someone else reported doing the same on this board, but they managed to get the rate reinstated.
Maybe a forum search would find it?0 -

Ask them to honour the bonus, else you close your accounts and end your business with them. If they want you as a customer they will honour it.
As banks really want savers at the moment, they would be silly to not honour it.0 -
Hi, thanks all for your help.
nrsql - I cant find and T&Cs on their website, all Ive found is this
Hungerdunger - Ive read that post, it looks like the op only went £10 over the maximum so its a slightly different situation but well worth a try!
Viper_7 - Im definetly going to close the account if they dont give me the bonus - I was going to anyway as there are other normal savings accounts that pay more than the regular saver but theyre not to know that!0 -
Ive just phoned YBS and spoke to a very helpful guy who said that as long as the extra £500 was withdrawn before the end of the month then I would still qualify for the conditional bonus and, as I have not yet made a withdrawal from the account, I can still get the bonus as usual.
Thanks to everyone for your help!
