Warm radiators upstairs when hot water is on

    Hi

This happened to me too and I was told that it doesn't cause a problem, other than having heat when you don't want it and it isn't costing you anymore money.

However the solution is just to turn each raditor off which I have done and it has solved the problem.

The reason for it is that a motorised valve is missing or not working (or something like that, I can't remember exactly what it was called) and to replace it would cost around £100 so I was advised, but with the radiators turned off it is not a problem anymore.

Thanks for the reassurance tenmah - although the bl00dy boiler won't light now  I've followed all the relighting instructions but to no avail. It's an Ideal Classic FF230 if it matters?

Does anyone know if this could be related to the radiator problem?

Thanks again for any help :)

this happened to us. We switched all rads off, but there is always one that stays on isnt there? SO that one stayed hot, as did the towel rail in the bathroom. Called out heating firm and surly lad told me it needed a new three way valve in the airing cupboard, wanted £200 for it. However, all the banging around he did mustve dislodged something as we dont have the problem at the moment.:j Fingers crossed. Bl**dy system is less than 3 years old as well.

Well, for some unknown reason the boiler has decided to work again

So I'll put up with the rad prob (if it happens again) and fingers crossed the boiler behaves itself - it is well overdue for a service so perhaps it's trying to tell me something!!!

Thanks for your input folks - nice to know this is a fairly common but relatively worry free problem. :)
