Sky plus installation

Ok I just arranged the sky plus installation for next week.

I have a couple of questions f someone could help me on please:

1. I know they will try to put in a new LNB (quad) on my existing sky dish. Will they put in a new dish if I insist or will they refuse?

2. If they do refuse will they at least move the existing dish to a different location as it is constantly being obstructed by tree branches.

3. Can I get them to put the new sky plus in the bedroom instead of the living room so we will have sky both upstairs and downstairs. That way I can still make use of the existing receiver downstairs (I know I will only get freeview on it). But I can put the new card downstairs so I will watch my subscription channels downstairs in the old reciever and just watch freeview upstairs on the Sky plus.

4. Although I would like to have the sky plus downstairs, but if I do that, I dont think then that they will be willing wire my old box to the bedroom. That is why I would ask them to put the new sky plus box in the bedroom.

Please advise me on these issues, and where I stand. Is there a better solution to this.

Thanks

  • Hi,

I think it all depends on the installer to be honest.

Officially if you say you want multiroom then they will do more or less what you ask I think but if you've just ordered a sky+ box then I would make the installer a tea or coffee every 15 mins or so with plenty of chocolate hob nobs.

Sky+ needs 2 coax feeds so if you're unsure where you want the sky+ box then you'll need to have to have 2 cables to each location.

If I were you I’d simply bung the installer a few quid to do the extra work.

Not sure about all your questions, but could you not somehow remove or damage your current dish so they will have to fit a new one?
