Kaupthing Edge fixed term deposit confusion

at what point doesnt it allow you to apply online - once you click on the FTD you want it allows you to put in the amount and then click process application- is it then that the problem arises?
Once I've logged in to my existing account there is nowhere to click, just a message saying: "To take up a Fixed Term offer, please contact Kaupthing Edge Customer Services on 08451 31 32 34".
Clearly I could apply for a FTD without logging in, but that looks as though it'll take you through a full application process (i.e there's no initial "do you already have an account with us? type question).Stompa0 -

Nor me, and I'm not entirely sure the FTD accounts even existed when I opened my account.funkyhitman wrote: »Come the next BoE base rate decision I shall contact KE to open one up hopefully with a higher interest rate than the current 7.1%.
Yes, I'm waiting too, though don't expect the rates to change this time round (note that it's currently 7.01% not 7.1%).Stompa0 -

Stompa - once you have logged click on the FTD you require and it then allows you to put in the amount you want and process the application - hope that works - good luck
This will not work for us because we did not express interest in a FTD when applying for the savings account. We HAVE to ring up. There's no other way to do it.
When you signed up with KE, did you tick a check box expressing interest in a FTD? That's the only way you are elegible to apply online according to KE.0 -

Underneath my account details there is a table of the various fixed term offers (with headings: Term, Gross Interest Rate, Break Rate, Minimum Investments(£), Maximum Investments(£)). But it's just a table, there's nothing that can be clicked on unfortunately.Stompa0 -
that is strange as my screen shows the same as yours - i just click onto the FTD from the table that I want and then the rest appears as per my previous post- i dont understand why its different for you - unfortunately you may have to call them up to find out what is going on - good luck againKeep the Faith:cool:0

I agree it is a little odd - presumably you don't get the message (shown just above the table) about needing to phone them?
I guess funkyhitman's explanation is correct, though I'm puzzled as to why they wouldn't make that option available to everybody regardless of whether they'd previously expressed an interest.Stompa0 -
no i dont get the message - i dont recall having to tick the box either when i opened the account but perhaps i did!!Keep the Faith:cool:0

Ah well no worries, we'll just ring up...and now is a good time to do it since KE have just increased their interest rate from 7.01% to 7.15%!
I wonder if it is worth waiting for more increases over the coming months... :T0 -

Yes, I just noticed that. Annoyingly though they haven't changed the 6 monthly rate.Stompa0
