Free website templates?

Does anyone know where I can get a decent but free website template? I've googled for it, and seem to find a lot on ones that are stuck in the late 90s, or websites that I'm not sure I want to download things from.
Many years ago I could make websites - that knowledge has been bleached from my mind with age, though. All I want is a simple but contemporary website to host fiction on.
I can't use one of the the free hosts that do simple templates (google?) because I want to put stories up that include adult content, and also I'd like to just be able to use a style sheet, given the amount of text that'll be on it.
Any recommendations?

I use www.freecsstemplates.org quite a bit, some good clean css based designs there and I normally find something I can adapt.0 -
Google for 'content management system' (Joomla, for example, is a fairly popular one.)
They provide the framework, all you need to concentrate on is providing the content.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
I'm having another go at web building, having only really played about with freebie sites in the past. I'm a bit like a goldfish so it's all feeling a bit new to me again! I don't fancy diving straight into HTML/CSS/whatever is the latest design code just yet so I'm looking around for templates and software to make it easier to get back into.
There are lots of templates out there, and I've seen oswd recommended a few times and I've downloaded a couple of templates from there.
I was excited about Joomla! but having bought a domain from Heart Internet which comes with free hosting, I've realised that I can't use Joomla! with it because the free hosting doesn't come with MySQL which is one of Joomla's requirements, so I'm browsing for easy options before visiting some of my old bookmarked coding sites such as W3 Schools. I wish I had a better memory: maybe I'll do a google search for a new brain whilst I'm at it! :rotfl:0 -
