LCD TV Price variation on Amazon

I just wanted to post this as I think this price variation is remarkable, and worth watching out for!
I've been looking at buying a new TV and finally settled on the Sony KDL32W4000. I was having trouble finding one at a decent price, various websites were either out of stock or overpriced. Eventually I decided to go with the best price I could find, and lo and behold, found it on Amazon yesterday for £730, with next-day delivery for just £8. The TV was delivered as promised this morning.
I thought I'd do a quick look on Amazon today to see if they had it in stock. The "main" entry on Amazon was priced at £1,280!!!! Clicking through the "used and new" another retailer was offering it at £800 plus £60 shipping, but with no stock available until mid-July. So in a day, the in-stock price has nearly doubled. So glad I ordered it yesterday.
No idea what's going on with prices - it's quite a new model so stock might be scarce. But still, it's incredible to see such fluctuations within a day. Who knows, it might be back to £700 by tomorrow.
I'd be interested to know if this is normal for products like this, as it could really pay to sit tight and watch prices for a few days before ordering in future.

I think you'll find when amazon get something new with limited stock and it turns out to be very popular they'll hike the price up to try and cash in.0

I'd say there's a mistake. It doesn't make sense to increase the price of something by ~80% when competitors are selling it for much less.
Btw, you could have got that tv for £709 from Dixons online0 -
The £1280 price is from a marketplace seller NOT Amazon. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I would like an option of only displaying items sold by Amazon.
If you look, it's pretty easy, it statesAvailability: In stock. Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk.Availability: In stock. Dispatched from and sold by estockroom
Just below the price, an option such as you suggest would increase Amazon's prices. I'd rather take the time to look.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

just to add, if the price drops to below the amount you paid within 28 days, you can contact amazon for a refund.
did it recently boughta camcorder for £570, a week later received an email about amazon camcorder sale and it was f£540.
Quick email and received a refund of the difference within an hour.0 -

Totally agree would love a filter for 'amazon.co.uk' only
I too hate marketplace listings on at false cheap prices only to find when going through the checkout process that the postage is OTT to wipe it out.0
