Foundation primer..

Is it any good? I have bought some of the dare foundation from superdrug and saw it bit it is £9 so quite a bit for something that may not work! I am getting married in october and the weather will hopefully be warm as abraod so does it help towards this too?
thanks

I would recommend the Smahbox photo finish primer. I do think its worth it, your skin feels and looks amazing with it on. They do different shades and formulations, eg green to counteract redness, peach to glow, and also one with sunscreen in it. Its a little more than the one you mentioned, but you only need a small amount so it lasts ages, and there are travel sizes as well. I get mine from either justbeautydirect.co.uk or QVC, depending on whats on offer! Hope this helps.

Thanks Meece had a nose and they look very good..my only question is, i have fairly pale skin and wondered which to go for? dont think i need the uvf one and the green one as i dont have red skin but i seem to be finding lots on there and dont want to buy the wrong one!! Any reccomendations please.
  • I bought a GOSH primer from Superdrug that is supposed to be a copy of the Smashbox one. It was £13 and it's amazing! I have oily skin that's naturally quite shiny even when there's no oil on it, but the primer makes it look much more matte. It might not be good for people with drier skin, though.

    Hi Gabyjane,
I have pale skin with freckles, and its also quite dry. I use the plain one and also have just bought the peach one. It doesn't give the peach colour on the skin though, it just gives it a slight glow, which I prefer for summer. Definitely improves foundation staying power! Only one thing I would advise, on the QVC website reviews quite a few people have said that with the pump action bottles the pump stops working halfway down the bottle. It's not happened to me, but something you should be aware of. Doesn't affect the product though! And you could always decant it into something else. Also the travel size tube is good value. I use the original photofinish not the light as I have dry skin. Hope this has helped!

    HI thanks girlies!! ok firstly:

fabuleuse i meant gosh in my first post!! don't know where dare came from!! anyway i find it quite hard to apply as dries very quickly..but it is good coverage..so does the primer give much of a diference when both on?

Meese I was looking at the highlighting one which looked good..i have the same skin as you by the sounds of it but mine is oilyer than dry so dont want something greasy as such!
    Thanks for your replys

I can second the recommendation for smashbox photo finish. I use it on myself when I want that flawless skin look (I have quite oily skin) and I always use it on my actors and actresses when I'm doing film/TV work. I personally prefer the original clear one.

It's not a greasy primer at all it's got a lovely smooth, silky, silicon feel to it and glides on to feel beautiful.

Did you get a GOSH foundation or foundation primer? I've not tried any GOSH foundations, but the primer is very good for mattifying and smoothing. It's difficult to tell if it makes foundation last longer because I got a new foundation (Maybelline minerals) at the same time and I've only used it under that, but when I wear the combination it lasts all day and I only need to blot once or twice. But as I said, it might be better for people with oily skin like me.

I've only ever bought it online so I don't know which high street shops sell it. I think I've seen it in John Lewis in the past.

If you're wanting to try it out and can't find it instore anywhere then I'd personally go for QVC. For about £15 they do a smashbox "starter set" which has photofinish primer, photo op under eye brightener, clear lipgloss, a brow and eyeliner palette and a brush. http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/walk.yah.UKHB~UK87
