I have been approached by a door salesman from n power telling me that as energy prices were due to rise 40% it would be a good idea to cap our bills. I am currently with edf energy for both my gas and electric and pay £65.00 per month for both of them, edf energy do not have a price cap, so iI signed the form to take up the npower price cap until 2011 is this a good idea
I worked out that although N power are more expensive at the moment if I get bills capped at these current rates then if EDF prices rise as expected i may well actually be better off with N power.

If this is not a good idea can I get out of the deal I signed with N power?

thanks

I imagine it's not a capped plan, it's a fixed price plan (npower Fixed Price 2011 ) until the 31st Dec 2010. I've just signed up to it and was told the offer is being withdrawn tomorrow.

Time will tell if it was the right decision.

You can get out of the npower Fixed Price 2011 plan at any time without penalty.

I too was told by n-power today that it was finishing tomorrow. Is this a standard sales tactic? Still although about 14% more expensive than my current plan with eon (extra saver v5 which just went up about 13% on June 1st) I can't see prices not rising bymore than 14% over 2 years.

    I wish I could switch!!

Can't get away from N-power as no other supplier have a Tariff to support two supplies into my property.

You use these compare websites which suggest a load of companies - one signs up, a few days later they send you a latter saying sorry, we can't take your custom!

It's good having two supplies, as the second is dead cheap over night and also a few hours during the day, but it's not good if you can't switch and are tied.

NEVER sign up to a door to door sales man, end of the day they want commission for getting you over to them, I find due to this they will tell you anything, and in cases lie to you.

I always find it best to look online and pick the tariff you want then you call them.... Good luck with your move... something tells me you will need it!!
