Bath or shower?

I believe most program on selling houses always recommend you have one bath in the house especially if it is a family house. If when you come to sell a couple with young children wanted to buy your house they would be put off by you not having a bath.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

my mum is in a similar situation. She's wanting to do her house up in case she decides to sell. As the house is old there was no bathroom so a bedroom was shortened and a bathroom built.
The bath in there isn't a normal size, and an averaged sized person can't relax in it. Her argument is she can't get rid of it because if she sold to a family they'd want a bath in there and mine is that even if she left the bath there nobody would want to buy it cos the bath is too small..
any ideas on whether it should stay or go?0 -
i'd still say keep the bath. have a look for other styles of shorter baths, or shower-baths, but do try to keep it. or could the bedroom/bathroom arrangement be made differently - slightly smaller bedroom and full size bath.0

bathroom built as in a bathroom was build, not stuck in the bedroom. To extend it you'd need to knock the bedroom wall down and move it back.
The bathroom is tiny, probably less than 5ft wide and nowhere else to put the bath0 -
We have a corner bath in our ensuite with an electric shower and a curtain round, the bath has a whirlpool but we very rarely use it these days whereas I shower at least once per day. Corner bath takes up less space but you can still relax in it, though not if you are six foot six LOL.
In the family bathroom we have a standard bath with a power shower from the hot water system and a glass screen to prevent the water everywhere scenario. I wouldn't really miss the bath because I'm not into soaking in the bath but I wouldn't take it out.
I probably wouldn't buy a house without a bath (or room for a bath) but I wouldn't mind having no shower because they are quite easy to put in.0 -
Never get rid off bath for resell purposes and women love having a log soak!!
Showers in morning and if rushing out for the evening. If you have chill time a nice bath with candles and lots of bubbles is all a girl needs. A guy sgould just run bath light a few candles for brownie points. Trust me on this one

Can you email my husband and tell him that please? Also, double brownie points if he pours me a really cold glass of chablis?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

No sorry, I still prefer a shower although strangely, if I'm in a hotel I feel ripped off it there is just a shower, well I am a woman so I'm allowed to be awkward.0 -
nothing worse than having a bath though. You lie in your own muck then you need to have a shower after it so you can get clean and wash your hair.
Plus your comic gets wet0 -
Thanks for the help, folks. I am clearly going to have to stick with a bath.
Amazing unanimity on this one. Must be the first time ever!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
