Claiming childcare whilst on Incapacity Benefit

For three year olds, yes, I don't object to that being free. My son is your age and he had tfree nursery (half-time) from 3 1/2..
I don't see why pre-twos should get them free although I understand what you have said about people going to work./
There is an alternative to work or benefits you know. That is looking after your child yourself (you and your partner) without financial help from the government.
However if as you say it is means-tested then I suppose only the most needy get it anyway.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
She definately needs to check again. The only scenario where childcare is paid re IB is when one partner works and the other is on IB. You cant claim it as a single person on IB.
The 2.5 hours for over 3 years is fine as it means every child gets a chance at preschool eductaion. CTC should not pay for childcare for those on IS - thats just a silly idea - getting benefits to stay at home with children means you actually look after them.
If on IB and truly unable to look after your children, then other services should assist like social services and not tax credits.0 -
Yes, that is wrong advice she has been given!
Forgive me if I am wrong, but is this just another thread started with the aim of slating tax credits (or the childcare element in particualr)? There seems to be a pattern forming imo.
I do not believe she was told people on income support can claim childcare costs! She is either telling porkies or they were talking about the free childcare for over threes and she has got the wrong end of the stick!
The only way she will get help with childcare is if one or both of the children are over three, or she contacts social services, or other relevent agencies/organisations, and is deemed in need of a break. I know SS will pay for childcare of they seem it in the inerests of the child and/or parent.0
