New house - can we get cashback on signing up for leccy and gas?
Hi all,
just moved in to a new house (no new, new though!) - very exciting! Seems the current supplier is Scottish power. I'm just wondering if we can sign up for a supplier through quidco or uswitch etc... and get cashback or do we need to be with scottish power for a bit first? There's 70 squid cashback for scottish power with quidco, which seems worth having and I like the look of price fixing till 2011.
Any ideas - or do we need to wait a few months first?
Thanks

You can only switch supplier if you already have a supplier.
When you move in you'll automatically get the existing supplier (SP in this case) Nothing to stop you switching from there. Switches usually take about 4-6 weeks to take place (and possibly a couple of weeks extra if going via a switching site if they need to forward the application onto the actual supplier)
During that time, you'll obviously be wanting to use power and that will be from SP."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
youc an switch as soon as you are in, however you won't be able to switch from Scottish Power to Scottish Power and get cashback. Plus the price fix 2011 is only available to those currently with Scottish Power now so leaving will remove that option, if you want that option will have to speak to them and change without going via another supplier0
