My PC has slowed to almost standstill over the pst couple of days. There are pop-ups which can't be closed. I have run five so-called free programmes - they all scanned but then wanted money to delete the trojans, adware, viruses, spyware. I cannot access my Hotmail, and it took me 3/4 hour to reach Martin's site. I can't afford to pay for a destroyer - I am also a total non-techie female - I'm also on Windows 98 - ahnyone got any ideas which might help? (I don't even know if I will be able to get back on to get your advice!!!)

Free AVG from http://www.free.grisoft.com is very good, or use trend micros's free online virus scanner http://housecall.trendmicro.com/.
You'll also need to scan for spyware using ADaware http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button
and/or
spybot search and destroy.
