Capital One for Bank Statements etc...

I've contacted all my creditors, sending them I & E forms and offering pro rata payments. So far, most have been okay, but got a letter from Capital One acknowledging my offer but saying that before they agree they want to see proof of my income, such as wage slips, proof of any benefits received, plus at least 3 months of bank statements.
I really don't want to send them any of this, especially as all the details they need were on my I & E form and I wondered if they have a right to ask for such personal documents? I mean, if I do end up sending them the bank statements, it's obvious that I need a DMP but that's not the point is it?
Any advice much appreciated.

I'd be interested in the answer to this one too.
We sent an SOA and pro-rata to them (and everyone else) at the start of the month, this morning we get a letter asking us to phone them. Between the extremely noisy line and the strong accent, I just about got that they wanted bank statments, and were going to send a 'help pack'.
I too am not comfortable with sending them such personal info, especially as no other creditors have ever needed it. Also, what else does this 'help pack' entail?DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Mmmmmm well this is a toughie... yes they have the right to ask same as you have the right to refuse.... Do bear in mind that your creditors don't have to accept a DMP though and they DON'T have to freeze interest...
If I were them and you refused to send proof of income etc then I might be less inclined to be co-operative and freeze interest on your accounts?
All they are asking I guess is that you back up the figures on you I & E with proof?
Might be worth calling them again and explaining why you don't want to send the documents through and if there is something else you can say/do/send that might help the process?DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

i would try writing back saying either payslips etc not available, or copies available at £10 each (thats what they would charge?).. or that as other creditors have accepted, this (£x) is what you intend to pay..
as a creditor, would rather have something coming in, than nowt. the interest they charge everyone must cover any losses caused by late / non payers..?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Hi there, I too had trouble with Capital One. I have being trying to do this by myself and it has been a struggle but am slowly but surely getting there. I sent them all they asked for and they have finally agreed to my reduced payment and freezing interest and charges but not until they got absolutely everything that they requested.0

I'm doing my own dmp and Cap One made a similar request to me - I only sent them part of the info they wanted (nothing that related to Mrs Leixlip1) and they re-newed my repayments/froze interest etc for a further 12 month period.
As other posters have said they are under no obligation to freeze ineterst etc so I guess it's a personal choice how you keep them on-side. In fairness I've found Cap One one of the most helpful but maybe I'm just lucky.
Good luck.0
