Mine never has! Have done so a lot when it freezes but it's been fine afterwards. It's got a hard drive like a PC/ laptop.

No. Mine freezes fairly regularly and the only way to 'unfreeze' it is to hit the switch at the wall.

The box just resets itself but no stored data is lost.

    Hope this helps.

your tv programmes on sky+ are stored on a hard drive. exactly the same type of hard drive as a computer has.

When you turn a computer off, the data on the hard drive stays, this happens exactly the same with sky+

turning off at the mains overnight, may mean you don't get the latest software update though, and sky don't recommend it. The latest software on the box makes sure that your box is in standby mode overnight, and will turn itself into that if it isn't being used...

also, turning box off overnight means you can't record any programs...

Three times our HD box tried to go into standby the day after the upgrade.. there's an "on/off" for the feature in the settings, but no way of setting how long before it switches off.. Obviously prolonged sessions of BabyTV or Big Brother Live (not too much difference, except BB has adverts) was too much fo it!

When Sky start paying the electric bill, then I'll leave it switched on overnight! :p
