Ebay alternatives?

What are the alternatives to ebay?
I'm not a business seller, I just declutter every now and then and put it on ebay to make some beer money. I always honestly describe, charge accurate postage and put photo's on but the hassle I've had from this months buyers has put me off. However I do enjoy selling and sending my goodies off to pastures new, and I was wondering if there were any other up and coming sites?
Maybe I've just had a run of bad luck, but it seems many others on here are too

There is no "true" alternative to ebay, simply because it is too big to compete with, but there are loads of smaller niche sites around. eBid is as about as close as it gets to a viable alternative, and they are doing a LOT of marketing at the minute to capture dissatisfied eBay customers. https://www.121bid.com is also a reasonable site to try, and it's completely free. They earn their money from advertising, and the site owner regularly contributes to their own forums. Not something you see on eBay!
Have a look at http://www.ebay-alternatives.co.uk/ for some ideas of what else is out there.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

The problem is the very fact that people have to ask if there is an alternative rather answers their own question. If they can't think of a natural alternative, then neither can the buyers.
Many of the 'alternatives' are more specialised, which is not a bad thing, so fo rintsance when selling books Amazon might spring to mind even before ebay. If some of the smaller sites can find a niche and attract buyers and therefore sellers they should find their business increasing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
