28 Days notice period to switch

Hi,

I'm looking to switch my fuel to capped with an alternative supplier to my current (npower).

I have just read in the T&Cs that I must give them 28 days notice of my intention to switch (I've also just read this in the Scottish Power T&Cs as I was just about to switch online).

Does anyone know how necssary this is? As when I switched from BG to npower I wasn't aware of any 28 days notice period and was never questionned/ penalised by BG about it!

If this is a necessary pain, what is the best procedure? Advise npower in writing and then ask Scottish Power to take on my account in 28 days?

Any advice would be gratefuly received!

  • When you sign up for new supplier(Scottish Power) will notify your current supplier(Npower), the process of switching generally takes between 4 - 6 weeks allowing the 28 days notice to be served.
