I got back from the Jug and Bottle near Grimsby a couple of hours ago. Really couldn't be bothered to cook (and the Asda shop with free delivery code thanks to MSE doesn't arrive until tomorrow!), so popped up with partner and 3 year old. Although it's gone up in price by 25p to £3.75 (shock, horror!!!), it's great value. Food was a good as usual- meat is cooked perfectly and drinks reasonable too. Sunday roast has moved Monday to Saturday in this house!

Added a new link, it also tells you the price of the carvery at the pub :)
  • Visited the Coopers Inn at Stone Cross, Eastbourne the other day and its turning itself around. There are some new faces in there and I was told new management. The athmosphere is warming and inviting, the food is tasty and the gravy is good old fashioned stick to your ribs gravy, yummy! Plus our waiter came over chatting to us and asked us if we wanted to win a £1000, of course we said yes and he gave us a card with an email address on, just fill in the survey and you get 10 chances to win, we were a bit sceptical until we heard that a regular had won the prize in Nuffield up the road. :j

Good luck to the new management and keep up the good work. Very good value for not alot of money, you can't grumble at £3.59 if you consider a McDonalds value meal is nearly a Fiver and it doesn't fill you up.

Well done to all and we will be visiting more often:money:

Hmm...I was very impressed with the taste of the food when we went to the Canterbury one for lunch on my birthday. Glad I didn't have the turkey though- DH did & ended up with campillobacter. He was very, very unwell. So much so a neighbour looked after the kids for two days so I could nurse him.

That was the only variation between our two diets for several days, and the timescale means theres no doubt in my mind. But damn, that gammon was good!

    1~ Mushroom Wellington
    2~ Red Pepper Parcel
    3~Broccoli & Brie Parcel

All are very nice, plus you can also ask for a jug of veggie gravy too!! :T

Absolutely out of this world. What a pub, set in the heart of Charnock Richard, beautiful scenery and excellent carvery. Choice of 3 meats, Beef, Turkey and Gammon and a selection of hot roasted veg. Drinks very reasonably priced compared with other pubs Ive been to. Staff excellent too. Didnt have to get up out of our seat all evening. Pub does get busy, took us 10 mins in the queue to get our meat carved. recommend the honey roasted gammmon, soft tender and red hot! Had a lemon meringue pie with ice cream for dessert which was good. Totally recommend this pub. Reading the paper reveiews too, they have been given a good write up. On Friday march 19th at 7.30pm they are having a fun evening with a crazy horses event, bingo and quiz.... sounds great, im definately gonna be there. Kids enjoyed it too having been coaxed by the chef to try the meats on offer! Top class, credit to the manager there, he has got it spot on!

oh and i believe their summer menu starts soon..... 2 new veggie dishes going onto it.... 5 bean chilli and mousakka dish...... will be trying those just to see what its like!
