some of you seem to be experts at this so here goes:

currently with Scottish Power for Gas & Electricity, quarterly bills, with prompt pay discount, and gas & electricity discount.

Here's a table of my usage (helpfully provided by ScottishPower's online account):

sp.jpg

My last bill worked out at £73 for gas, and £176 for electricity (January to April).
Before that £63 gas, and £166 for electricity (October to January)
And before that £16 gas, and £130 for electricity (July to October)

The current prices for my account would seem to be:
- Gas - 2.403p/kWh, with standing charge of 11.070p/day
- Electricity - 11.799p/kWh, with standing charge of 15.810p/day

The comparison websites seem to suggest that British Gas' Click Energy 5 Dual Fuel Tariff is the current cheapest. However, i can't find an easy way of working out how much extra the capped rates will cost.

The whole things a headache. Even looking at the option of Scottish Power's fixed rate until 2011 - there are several options: "Fixed Price Energy"; "Fixed Price Energy NSC"; "Fixed Price Energy online";" Fixed Price Energy online NSC".

Any ideas?

Thanks a million for taking the effort to read this

  • Using your figures(approx annual consumption elec 5041 and gas 5546) for my postcode(Warrington, Cheshire) and using Scottish Power, prompt pay dual fuel stardard as the tariff.

British gas click 5 appears to be your cheapest tariff available at £653 PA, saving of 174, but this tariff is for monthly DD and managing your account online. (Also switch via quidco(or similar) which offer £60 for dual fuel switch)

Eon fixed price protection till 1st Oct 09, monthly DD and optional online account to manage, including tesco clubcard points and no exit penalty, appears to be cheapest fixed at 769 PA, saving of £57.( again quidco offering £55 cashcash for eon duel fuel switch)
