Car Insurance Monthly Repayments

Has anyone managed to get their car insurance company to waive the service charge on paying by monthly installments.

Any comments appreciated, thanks

what I've found is a much cheaper way of doing it is if you have a credit card with a good rate (mine's 9.9%), pay for it in full using your credit card and then pay a bit of your credit card each month.

The advantage with this method is that you can choose to pay as much as you want each month, without being tied into paying a set amount over 10 or 11 months.

For example, with instalments I would have been paying £50 interest - with my credit card I'm only paying £20 if I pay over 10 months, and save £2 more per month if I decide to repay it in a shorter period.

Hi I have just arranged my car insurance with Privilege and they did 0% APR on monthly payments. They were also the cheapest which helped no end.

You should be able to find a credit card with 0% for 9-12 months, so you needn't pay any interest at all. See Martin's credit card guide.
