Removing wax crayon from mortar?

My DD has used her wax crayons to colour in the mortar on my brick fire place
What can I do to get this off? So far I've only tried baby wipes, I was considering using white spirit as that got it off her wooden (varnished) toy box but I don't want to make it worse.
If you've any suggestions that'd be great.

You need some brick and patio cleaner. It's horrible stuff that cleans grease (which crayons are) off mortar, bricks and patios.
Builder's merchants sell it in huge vats as brickies use it to clean splashes off brickwork. You can buy it in smaller quantities from smaller DIY stores although the smallest I've found on the web is 2.5 litres.0 -
To get it off of bricks you can use an iron on a low heat over kitchen paper - the iron melts it & the paper soaks it up - may be a bit more difficult if the mortar is recessed much but worth a try.0

A thin wire brush like you can buy from Car spare shops to clean spark plugs. that will remove a fine layer of mortar also but should work.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
