  • I'm sure your boys would be fairly bored with the Scottish Parliament - but at least it is free so you could quickly go in and have a look, espeically since it is at the bottom of the Royal Mile and near Holyrood Palace, and Dynamic Earth is also closeby. Also, if the weather is good you could have a wander in the Queens Park (Holyrood Park) and have a look at St. Margaret's Loch (maybe feed the ducks and swans). You would then pass the Museum of Childhood going up the Royal Mile towards the Castle (and a fudge shop that makes, and lets you taste lovely fudge). The Royal Scottish Museum is closed for refurbishment (in Chambers Street) but the newer part called the National Museum of Scotland, which is next door, is still open and is also free. The great thing about Edinburgh, if the weather is good, is that you can just wander about and look at the great views and historic buildings and you don't need to spend money. Also, the boys might enjoy the play park in Princes Street Gardens. Just remember that we are preparing for the introduction of trams in 2011 and so there are roadworks everywhere and lots of traffic diversion.

If I were you I would swap your Museum and RYB slots as the Museum and Royal Mile are fairly close to each other and would save some travelling time. I would also check Metcheck.com for weather as, depending on the forecast, you may want to swap your Glasgow day depending on whether the weather is better in the East (Edinburgh) or West (Glasgow). Hope you have a good time.
