NUS Mobile Phone Deals at The Link

Having seen an advert on The Link's website I popped into a store today to enquire about their student deal. It looks pretty good. It's only available on the high street. Students can get 12 months free line rental on selected tariffs with Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile or O2. The tariffs have different minimum terms. I think the Vodafone tariff was for a minimum of 18 months, but I took out an Orange contract for 12 months - free phone - free line rental = winner!

The phones aren't the latest models so they may have to order them in for you. Also, free line rental is by cheque-back every few months - so you must remember to sent the certificate in on time!!

I can't believe there've been no replies to this, especially when there's been healthy discussion about student offers on another thread which doesn't mention this!!
I signed up this week, 12 month contract, free Orange line rental for 12 months (3 chequebacks of £120), free Motorola V635 phone and 200 anytime cross network calls per month. Bonanza!
Be quick if you want it though - offer ends Monday 31st October.0 -
i think its cos "free " phones - through cashback on contracts are a dime a dozen - why would anyone (us students inc) want an offer for old style phones when we can get new phones on the same style offers?? Anyway me personally - I don't like cashback ideas as it is all too easy to forget or the compnay to change t&cs etc etc0

i am on payg o2 and it works out great, £10 a mth, 300 texts. still using my samsung fone from last yr, will only get a contract when im working again, dont need the hassle of cashback schemes or monthly bills!0

I still prefer nothing a month even with the hassle!

It depends, cashback is something only the reliable can do.
If you shop direct (ie from Orange, or O2 or Tmobile etc from their websites/telesales/shops) then you can get some pretty good Student dedicated deals. Orange will add on 1000 texts, £50 credit and 50% off landlines for NUS No. on YP120+ and Off Peak tariffs.:A Boots Tart :A0
