Depends on the individual group. Some group owners are really paranoid about making sure you don't belong to another local group, or you're not on a previously banned list, or any one of a million reasons. I own my local group and I or my mod approve people within three hours at the most.now_a_mum&skint wrote: »my membership is awaiting pproval by the group leader, any idea how long it takes?0 -
I've tried twice to join my group never heard a thing back. Just donated all my stuff to the charity shop, sewing maching and everything.0

I always donate sellable stuff to the charity shop first. Sometimes on freecycle its as if people don't know that charity shops exist.
The things we give away tend to be larger awkward items that charity shops couldn't sell e.g. Bikes in need of TLC, Garage Shelving, Old Furniture, dated PC equipment, faulty stuff. Nearly everything i've offered has been collected, there is always someone who wants it.

Freecycle is a great way of disposing of stuff that's too much hassle to put on Ebay. We've got rid of loads of stuff this way (the latest being a 24ft extending ladder, an old fax machine, and a carrier bag of 3 year old Weight Watcher magazines!! LOL) and you do get a nice warm feeling knowing that it's all going to a good home and the people taking it off your hands actually appreciate it. Never had a problem with anyone wanting or expecting delivery - I think it's generally accepted that if you get something for free, then go and get it yourself.
However, yet to find anthing on there that I actually want. All the good stuff gets snapped up really quickly, looks like you need to be logged into it all day every day to get a real bargain!0
