O2 Shops

Options
I bought 2 handsets from the O2 shop around 3 months ago.

Recently they have developed a fault whereby they crash half way through a call and at random times.

I tried to update firmware but Nokia currently doesn't support Vista!

So I'm stuck with 2 dodgy phones.

Then today my '0' button fell off ...

Took it to O2 shop and they said they'd have to send it away and wanted £25 for a loan phone.

Is this the usual way to do it?

I think its ridiculous that a phone develops a fault(s) within 3 months and the shop will not give a replacement.

I would have expected them to at least update your phone for you to attempt to fix the one phone. As for the 0 button falling off not sure if you can class that as a fault (unless it does it on all of thoses handsets) or wear and tear and hence why its being sent away. If this is the reason you can see why they ask for you to give a deposit(?) just so you dont walk off with the replacement phone etc.

  • Yep, they always ask for a deposit for the loan phone.

They'll send it away, and if it can't be repaired then you should get a replacement.

Vodafone didn't charge me when my contract handset went faulty. I didn't have insurance with them. It was the oldest phone ever but it did work and was free!

    o2.

I like using their network. I used their telephone today to make a phone call to somebody I know and then to someone at an office.

I liked using o2 for the phone calls.

o2 are a mobile phone network provider.

    thanks
  • be aware if they can't fix your phone you will get a refurb one from the repair company not the o2 shop

I had a similar issue phone was 40 days old, outside the 30 days for replacement, they tried to fix it, fault reoccurred, lots of arguing in the shop about my consumer rights and what their stand in manager said was store policy overriding my rights later the proper manager intervened and a new phone was handed over but without a fight they were going to send my phone away and get a refurb sent - the argument that won it was asking the bloke if he bought a new plasma that developed a fault after 40 days would he expect a refurb in exchange?
