How do I tell Virgin I don't want their identity theft protection?

Hi All,
I'm soon going to apply for a Virgin Credit Card, and I've read many times on these boards that they really really try and push their ID theft protection insurance on you. When you ring to activate the card, what is the best thing to say to them to make it clear you don't want it?
If they try and offer me PPI or anything like that , I can say that I have every type of insurance imaginable through my job (which is true). But I can't think of a good excuse to decline their ID theft protection!
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

Just say "No, thank you." and repeat again "No, thank you." if they ask again. It always works for me. You don't need any excuse to reject something you don't want. If they ask you why, just say "there is no reason, I just don't want it".
By the way, if they still continue to ask you why, just say "well, if you want the reason, it is expensive and it is useless."
And after that, if they still try to sell you this protection or other, just tell them "Look, I am quite busy and I only want to activate my card today, I don't want anything you sell to me."
I did receive complaint that I am rude. But well, who cares...do I look like I care?!0 -
Ditto JMs reply above. You can always apply online if you don't want to speak to a potentially pushy person too.0

Thanks for both responses so far!joolsybools wrote: »Ditto JMs reply above. You can always apply online if you don't want to speak to a potentially pushy person too.
That's true... but if I'm not mistaken you have to call them to activate the card when you get it, and it's at that point they will get all pushy? You're spelling is effecting me so much. They did the same to me when I activated my new card (only got it for stoozing).
They tried to sell me payment protection, and I said (truthfully)that I already had a stand alone income protection insurance.
When they tried the I.D. security insurance, I just said I already had some(blagged this),...
The guy laughed and said "You're obviously covered for everything...are you insured against Alien Abduction?"
I said, No, if I was abducted, they'd soon throw me back again!!!:rotfl:
He laughed again and left it at that.
I think if you can just say no, without getting ratty, they're fine; at the end of the day, they have to try to sell these things as part of their job.

You could tell them that CapitalOne credit card were offering FREE ID theft protection. This is one reason I took out a credit card with them, it was provided by equifax(I think) and it was good. However the credit card itself was no great shakes but as i always pay back in full each month this is not a problem0

I can't remember now - there may also be an option to do that online. But if you do have to phone just use the blocking/repeating technique, i.e. no thank you, no than you, no thank you (It does work, trust me, as long as you are firm and keep repeating it!). If they do get pushy and you feel you need to justify yourself just say you have other arrangements in place and if they ask what they are just say that it's not relevant.0

Just say no thanks and leave it at that, and repeat no thanks if asked again, just like someone has already said.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Halifax are the same and I had nothing but pitch after pitch on why I needed everything under the sun. My partner picked up their card for the 0% not so long ago and I told her to simply reply "No thank you, I only want to active my card" to every sales pitch. It worked very well and was off the phone in minutes.0
