I decided to instruct my bank (who already had most of my parents money) to put it somewhere where there would be no risk to capital and a guaranteed return.

I'm totally astounded that even after this thread has run to 50 posts, many of them very detailed and informative, that the OP still fails to grasp that inflation is a risk to capital. With this kind of attitude you might as well invest in Zimbabwean dollars!

so I'll take make a sharp exit before I get anyone else all hot and bothered.

    phew!

  • Midas, thank you SO much. Very helpful, relevant and informative.

    Anyway, moving on.....

DRS1, if you're still out there - what's your take on how this investment is looking now from the point of view of savers rather than investors? (25% over 5.5 years, plus 8.1% for one year on an equal amount)???

Also, I remember you saying you took out a similar investment and that yours was closer to maturity than mine - how has it faired? How are you feeling about it now?

It was rubbish then and it would still be rubbish now.
