Fixed rate question. Any advice?
Like a lot of people in the light of the inevidable price hikes within the next couple of months, I'm reviewing my tariff.
I'm currently on a fixed rate contract with Scottish Power until November this year. Since I've been in this arrangement I've managed to avoid the price increase at the beginning of the year.
If I go into another fixed arrangement now, my bills will certainly go up as I will be forced into paying the current rates, but I'll have the ability to avoid the forthcoming price increase if I change now.
Has anyone got any advice? Would I be better waiting till November before reviewing my tariff as I'm immune from any price increases before then. Or would I be better getting something sorted now which means I'll be fixed until 2011 but be paying more than I'm paying at the moment.
Just to put a spanner in the works, I'm planning on moving house from a rented house into a mortgaged propety before the end of the year. Does anyone know whether I could take my existing deal from this property to my new one? If not changing deals now would be clearly pointless considering I will be probably out this house by November anyway!
Hope someone can offer some advice,
Cheers!

When you move house you automatically taken on by the previous occupiers suppliers.
If your moving before November then switching now would be counter productive.
Lets hope you can switch to decent deal as soon as you move.
