Exempt or not????

I thought it best not to enquire to closely as to why we didn't get one this year, as they might try and get us to pay for all last years prescriptions / dental appointments / Optical voucher. I guess I had just better bite the bullet and pay! Though I might either get dh a prepaid certificate, or get his doctor to prescribe more than four weeks blood pressure tablets at a time.Quidco cashback paid out so far £745.89 :j0

I have an exemption certificate for this year that was issued last April(05).
My partner changed jobs in May and we now do not receive Working Tax Credit.
Am i right then in thinking we can still use the exemption certificate until next april as i have been paying for prescriptions thinking i had to pay.
It's all a bit confusing!0 -
Ive never seen anything that says you cant, if their never recalled how are you to know not to use it.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

Thats what I've been saying to my OH.
They should send you a letter telling you that you are no longer exempt and to cut the card up.
I'm too scared to use it in case i get in trouble.
If i ring the Tax Credit helpline would they know?0 -
You could ring the PPA on 0845 609 9299, anonymously, of course, and ask them. They issue the certificates and should know.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. I sent the PPA an e-mail asking about the exemption card.
They replied saying i can continue to use the card as "your entitlement is based on your circumstances when the tax credit did your assessment and not what they are now".0 -
I assumed that was the case but you never know. The old WFTC exemption used to say that it was valid for 6 months regardless, it would be easier if the news ones did say they're usuable to the end of the year regardless.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
