BACS transfer with bank account?

I have a couple of hundred pounds in cash that I want to pay into may Egg credit card without it going through my joint bank account so that I can buy something as a surprise.
Is there any way I can make a BACS transfer without using my bank account? Can I just walk into any bank and fill out a BACS transfer and hand over the cash?
I could give the money to someone at work and get them to do it but I'd rather not do that.

I'm not aware of any way you could do this without using a bank account.0

OK thanks. I wondered if one of those high street cheque cashing places might do it. I guess I'll ask a friend to do it from their bank.0

Complete long shot...will they accept a postal order (with an accompanying letter)?
It's not one of the payment options in the T&C's/FAQ on their website, but since they do accept cheques (albeit with a fee) maybe they'd be obliging?
Give them a ring and ask.0 -
Presumably you can't buy the present with the cash? Even if it's a bit more expensive, say, to buy in a shop rather than online that higher price may be worth the hassle of moving the funds.
And have you really managed to save up hundreds of pounds without your OH knowing? I'm impressed.0 -
A few pounds a week from my pocket money soon builds up!0

You should be able to walk into any branch of HSBC and fill out a bank giro transfer form (details needed are here http://new.egg.com/visitor/0,,3_53873--View_987,00.html) and hand over cash.
As it's to an HSBC account, the bank won't make a charge.0
