Emulsion paint on carpets

How to wash emulsion paint off the carpets?

Originally I was going to replace all the carpets but with money fast running out, on redecoration costs, I have decided to keep the bedroom carpets for a bit longer but unfortunately before I had reached that decision that I messily redecorated all the rooms thus splashing paint all over the carpets! Are there an easy and efficient way of cleaning the paint off please?
Thanks.

Clive

As its Emulsion and not Gloss, would Fairy Liquid not shift it? A small amount in a wet sponge worked into the splodges might help break it up a bit!

Try paint brush cleaner to dissolve it then hot soapy water.
(try the paint brush cleaner somewhere unseen first)
    I haven't got one!

Vaseline intensive care body lotion removes emulsion paint - it sounds unlikely but I remember reading it in a newspaper article and thinking how odd it was!

Except that many of us have modern concrete floors, not lovely boardsboards, and carpet is VERY trendy right now.

Try just plain wate rand a microfibre cloth. Will take a bit of ellbow grease but should shift the paint if it's not baked on.

I wouldn't use any fatty stuff such as vaseline or brush cleaners for emulsion paint, because that is likely to create a larger mess than you already have.

If it doesn't work with water/microfibre, then you could try the paint wipes you can get in Homebase - but try on an inconspicuous spot first in case it takes the colour out of the carpet.

Emulsuon is water soluble so it will lift with water if you find it hard to get out
then its dried out to much, then I would suggest renting a carpet cleaner or borow a Vax, As in Post no3 Chemicals will only damage your carpet, so dont do this.

Brush cleaner only works on Oil Based or Chemical "solvent" based compounds
as said before Emulsion is water based so wont be touched by a "brush solvent"

Personally, I have never been completely satisfied with any method of removing emulsion since nowadays it is plasticised - I.E. a lot harder to remove.

it sounds to me as if you will have a lot of 'flecking' to it'll take quite a while. Suggest perhaps a loan or...

Have you thought about painting over the whole carpet to make it even? :)
