So just where are the last minute villa bargains?

Ok, so i've tried to do a home swap at short notice and failed miserably so far.

Now, with the school holidays just a week or so away, I have to get a holiday sorted out for my 2 boys and partner asap.

We want (no need!) a property that has:

1. private pool (that means not shared with anyone other than us 4!)

2. downstairs bed/bath

3. level access to property so we can get our son's wheelchair around ok.

THATS IT!

We can go anywhere in mainland europe

we are not bothered about being close to sea or other perceived premium areas

We can travel at anytime from 17th july to 30 august

We can go for anything from 7 to 16 nights or more!

So, how, just how do i find a last minute bargain villa?

We know there must be thousands of villa owners sweating heavily at the moment with empty bookings even in august - the trouble is how do we find them and grasp a bargain?

Your'e wrong about the Villa owners being worried-most are booked up for July/August-it's the TOUR OPERATORS that are worried! As only ONE sale is needed to fill the week private owners are doing very well.

We buy 'dead-stock' from the Tour Op's & friday is the day they 'drop'. Hope you are on-line now because I'll chase up our weekly mail.

If you include the flights do you have a maximum budget?

Ok-2 bedroom villas in CRETE on 20/7-£600 per villa (cheap for these dates)-flights about £150 pp (based on Gatwick)-so works out about £300pp.

If you could do the same on 13/7-2 bed villas only £250 total!

Let me know if you want more info!

    travelman,
    hi,
I'm online and read your message, but am going out now until later today.
In terms of price, that is hard, as it so much depends of course on what is offered and the standards etc.
To keep price down, of course, we don't need to be in the "hot spots", in fact we'd prefer to stay away from them if at all possible so that my son is more comfotable.

the best countries would be germany, holland, italy and france i suppose - you get the idea, steering clear of conjested mediterranean coastal and island sites etc.

anyway, look forward to hearing from you.

the word bargain is difficult to associate with paying anything over £1000 max 1 week and £1500 max for two (inc villa, flights from humberside or east midlands etc) and car hire (needs to be at least ford focus size due to wheelchair etc).

You'd be VERY pushed to get it under £1350 (based on Villa at £600, flights Man/Ema at £159, car £120 ish).

However-you see the price for 13/7-£250??

If-& it's a BIG IF -next week the villas on 20/7 don't sell-they MAY reduce-if you want to play the waiting game PM me a contact number & I'll let you know when (& if!) this will happen!

in the mean-time-try & get hold of the BEACH VILLAS brochure (part of thomas cook) OR download the greek part of the book in PDF format from thomas cooks web site!

I know this isn't quite what was asked for but I have seen on Bridge Travel's web site some really great deals for CenterParcs in Europe. A 3 bedroomed villa is about £800 in July and that includes the ferry/Eurotunnel crossing. CenterParcs are notoriously good for the disabled so it may be worth a look if you are desperate!
