I was suggesting how it could actually be eco, not really interested in what manufacturers etc say about their products.

We use a whistling kettle on the gas hob, fed up of the electric kettles failing - some not that cheap either.

I've got a whistler on the gas hob too! I feel all smug when there's a power cut!
They must be cheaper if you consider that they don't need replacing?

Yeah, forgot about the power-cut thing. But then before we had the whistling kettle, we used a saucepan to make a hot drink during the power-cuts and during the times the electric kettle had failed again. I remember a time when people simply replaced the element on the electric kettles when they failed - now it's just throw them away and buy a new one altogether.

This is known as a 'navy' shower. Not a lot of water on battle ships I believe
