pop up plug in bath

purchased bathroom suite from b&q earlier this year pop up on the plug stopped working and couldnt get water from bath, anyway i have managed to get plug out, I have stripped the set up down and noticed there is nothing to push the plug up, it wors off a cable that is attached to over flow that you turn then it moves a lever that turn a plastic part with orings on but there is nothing attached to this to push the plug up, b and q say i need to but a new one, is there anything else i could do?

If you've got access to the plug from underneath you could change to a spring loaded plug instead. It's a push button that you push to open and then push to close. The spring is strong so you wouldn't knock it with your feet but it does involve putting your hand in the water to open it.

Screwfix sell one for £13.49 and when we had one in our basin it felt far more secure than the popup one in our bath which was the type you have.
