10.5kw Electric Shower - No Pull Cord

Today we have had a 10.5kw Electric Shower installed in the bathroom but it was done while I was at work with just the wife at home. Now upon my return from work I have found that we do not have a pull cord in the bathroom to switch on/off the electric shower but a switch on the wall outside of the bathroom similiar to what you have for cookers in the kitchen. Apparatly the electrician said that pull cords were not suitable for 10.5kw showers. Does anyone else have experience of this. I personally do not like the switch on the wall outside the bathroom. Also will it be safe to leave this permanently on as the switch is fairly high up on the wall ?

and that looks so much better than the switch he has supplied for us. Not a happy chap now I have seen that.:footie: Rando0 -
IMO pull cord switches always seem to fail after a few years. Wall switches last much longer.0

The switch on the wall doesn't look that bad now I have got used to it. I just didn't expect this at all as I had only ever seen electric showers that operated with a pull cord.:footie: Rando0

I can see where the electrician's coming from. I fitted a 10,5Kw shower, and TBH I wish I'd used a switch now, as trying to get the cables into the pull cord box was a nightmare!A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0

Getting 10mm twin and earth cable in to a pull cord is a pig. They also 'go' after a couple of years. The electrician was right to put a switch in outside. Cheaper for you in the long run and it is perfectly safe to leave it on permenantly.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Thanks for all the replies reassuring me that having the switch is not unheard of and a perfectly acceptable solution. I am getting used to it now and am hardly noticing it on the wall.:footie: Rando0

I also prefer NOT to use pull cord switches. They are a pain, and are awkward to fit 10mm cable in to.
I always try and fit a wall switch where possible as they are more acessible and more reliablebaldly going on...0
