According to the manual (see pages 14-16), it should work with either Windows Media Player 9 or 10. Alternatively, as it perportedly works like any other Mass Storage Device (see pages 33-35), you could just copy files to it manually using Windows Explorer.

If none of that helps, you may want to see the section on troubleshooting: pages 39-42 inclusive.

thanks tangle foot the only instructions i got was a quick start manual , do you think there should have been a manual in the box

on the quick start it said it should have jukebox on a drive (possibly drive E) but my drive e is my dvd drive and my drive f is my web cam

Then presumably the Archos should turn up as drive G when plugged in.

Can't answer for that model - my archos AV420 , shows up as a removeable drive - but tahts under windows XP, I suppose early windows may need drivers

That said new firmware issued for my model ( and I belive same for these mp3 players ) are "PlaysForSure™" so synch with Windows MP 9 +
    - but on mine you have to change setting to either PlaysForSure Device or Hard disk

just having a little look through the manual what tanglefoot put link to also having a look at plays for sure site
  • I've got one too and this had me flummoxed for a while. The USB will only charge the player, until you press the power button. It'll then ask you if you want to enable the USB. Select 'yes' and you're away.

By the way, the manual is stored on the player. I've transferred mine onto my PC to make more room for the music.
