Just need some advice please i have a few credit cards, and debts outstanding in the region of 7K. I have managed to get a good loan for 8K which will cut down my monthly outgoings by around £220. Things is i have just paid off the full balance of the largest credit card 4.4K, now i don't want to us it in the near future, but may need to now and then, for purchases i can't afford until my bonus clears each month. Question is how long can i leave my balance at zero, or will i have to make some purchases to keep the card open.
Many Thanks

If you have got a loan for consolidation you maybe better closing the account down until the loan has cleared it could be easy to run the debt back up, once its clear you could apply for one then or maybe you wont need one0

Thanks for the advice, me and the OH have been wrestling with this for a week or so now. We want to close the account, but we just worry we have very little savings, so we don't have any back up, in case car breakdown, roof falls in etc. We only wanted to keep the account as our fall back, but as you point out we are worried we may have the loan for three years and then build the debt up again which have done in the past. Mayb we could ask the credit card firm to shirnk the credit limit??0

thats a good idea if you keep it to a small limit that would cover any emergency but try to avoid using it for day to day use0
