Who is your email provider? Do they have a problem; which should be in their status page on their website?

Sounds like you've got a large email blocking the rest of your emails. If you call virgin support they can check for you or you can just keep trying to send/recieve. Eventually the large email will come through but it may take many, many attempts before all the info comes through and I mean 10's of times!0
