Personally I don't go out on specific shopping trips but if I see something when I'm out and about I'll get it then. If you root about you can get some good stuff in the likes of Woolies Sales/Poundland/Poundstrecher etc.
So far I've managed a Banzai DVD from Poundland and T Shirt from TK Maxx that cost 70p for my brother
A Strictly come dancing dvd for my Dad from Poundland
and some Simpson Slippers for my OH in the sale at woolies for £3
I just gave my sister a Large Cocktail glass that came with a funky fluffly coaster for her birthday and that only cost £1.99 in Woolies sale
and a cafeitere set from woolies sale (£5 reduced from £15) for OH stepmum's Bday
none of these gifts look cheap in the slightest and the ones that have already been received have been popular.
Everyone one them have been spotted when I've just been browsing and I haven't been birthday or christmas shopping.
Through the year I always find boots good for having reduced "smelly" sets from last years christmas stock so it's always worth a look in there.
    Hope that helps a bit

Can't help with specific ideas, but check out Tesco as I was in there last night and they have really cheap stuff that apparently will go up in price nearer Christmas, including a lovely box of truffles for just 99p!! Doesn;t say Tesco all over it or anything.

They also have an online books and CD sale and I picked up some bargains in that.

How about for your grandparents you go in with your brothers and ? parents (although it sounds like they are divorced so may not be a good idea :-). Get someone to take a photo on digital camera and maybe make a mug with a photo of you all on.

Make sure you set a strict budget - I was terrible in my student nurse days and spent £200 on debenhams store card at xmas. Yikes!!

Here are my granny gift ideas. (Max £5).
    1. Primark handbag.
    2. Glove and scarf set (Primark or BHS).
    3. Personalised mug (This tends to be about £5.99 but make your brothers go thirds). Ha Ha. http://www.bonusprint.co.uk/pages/photo_gifts_mugs.htm?OnpageA=3
    4. Smelly packs - I like this site http://www.directcosmetics.com
    5. Try here for personalised items - very cute and very reasonable. http://www.charactercreations.co.uk/

    Mums (Under £10).
    1. Magazine Subscription - get a free gift and give the other mum/step-mum the free gift. Although it may be about £18 for the subscription you will then have the free gift to give as a gift so it will work out under a tenner.
    2. Grandmothers boasting book for when the baby arrives you can get really cute books - check out ebay.
    3. This site has very cheap but lovely looking make-up. http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/acatalog/index.html
    4. Glowing Martini glass £1.95
    http://www.dotcomgiftshop.com/shopexd.asp?id=372
Plus a bottle of martini. Ha Ha.
    5. Diary from M+S they have a lovely Breast Cancer Care one for £3 with matching address book.

    Brothers. (under £10).
    1. Wild Party Night Pack £5
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=38356&doy=6m10
    2. Razorlight cd - Absolute must this cd - its fab.
    3. Baby casting kit - £8.99.

    Dads
    1. The new coast book to go with TV series. I have bought this on amazon and paid double the book people price. Oops.

    Grandads
    1. How about sending an xmas pud - A really lovely one from marks or something.
    2. Transparent bird box - £6.99

Okay thats probably enough for now. i just get so excited at buying gifts.

  • For Grans-how about a hamper? Buy cheap basket from pound shop, shred paper etc/tissue paper, fill will lots of goodies grans like-small tins, small wine/sherry, jams, Xmas pud, tea, coffee, small diary, book of stamps, notepaper & envelopes..etc.etc. They always love something simple-an up to date photo and frame?

Myself and brother are both going to be parents next year. We have decided not to buy each other anything from now on, just buy for little uns. However, we have made agreement that us newbie parents will get together for a meal/theatre around this time as our treat to ourselves!

I am making a hamper for my brother too-all baby stuff, just picking up bits here and there, nothing too expensive-will give this to them nearer the time, not Xmas.

Mums and Dads- theatre ticket vouchers? With a goody bag of sweets, popcorn etc....???

Check out the Old Style forum, there are loads of ideas there..

    Good Luck

    It's great in here! :)
  • Just a word of advice. Your brother might be expecting a baby, but try not to make the whole of his present about the baby, you start to feel you want to be remembered too
  • morrisons has bogof on lots of stuff for xmas maybe you could put in a food hamper.

wow thanks everyone! some fab ideas in there! dont really have a budget which is how we always verspend i am the kind of person who shops upto xmas eve and makes sure evry1 has 'even' prezzzies which just send me round in circles! none of r parents are divorced so we could buy them joint prezzies, OHs parents go on cruises every 3 months so we were thinking of getting them personalised luggage strap..any ideas on where to get them i haveseen them for £15.
For my brother i wasnt gonna get him anything to do with baby as his partner lives in ireland and he will be moving there at xmas so dint wanna increase his luggage too much! I was gonna get him a paintballing set from burtons but dont think his pregnant girl would be up for playing that now!!!
