vinegar ...again

Options
Went to tesco today and noticed 2 bottles of white distilled vinegar for pickling - ready spiced - for £2.00

i have just become an OSer and havent found any other kind of white vinegar anywhere except sarsons in sprinkler bottles which is not cheap.

will the above mentioned work for fabric softener etc?

sorry if this has been asked a million times before.

So your going to put spiced vinegar in your washing machine? I don't think it will work somehow. Unless you strained the spices out maybe

    Hi brokenwings,

I usually buy vinegar from the chinese supermarket, where it costs around £2.00 for five litres.

Have a look here for the many ways that vinegar can be used in cleaning (including a link for using vinegar as a fabric softener.

There's normally some white (actually clear) vinegar available in most stores. Prices can vary. While clear is the preferred vinegar people have used normal brown malt with no ill effects - it's just a bit smellier when used in a spray bottle (though no problem as a fabric conditioner).

    Using spiced vinegar isn't recommended.

If you have an Asian or Chinese supermarket or shop near you they often sell in one or even five litre containers. Failing that Asda has 568mil for 46 pence which is quite reasonable.

I'm new to this old style money saving but I'm intrigued!!!

I have read somewhere about vinegar making brown hair shiny - does this work on blond hair too??

Also I've read references to 'bounce' and midges but I cant find the original post to see what its all about!

...Please help me someone - I've been searching for ages!

Vinegar makes excellent deodorant as well. Putting it in one of those plant sprayers makes it much easier to put on in the morning.

You're kidding?! Really? I wouldn't fancy using it after shaving under my arms though?!

I got a free sample of Bounce once but not having a tumble dryer I didnt really know what to do with them. So in the winter I hung them on the radiators and then put the washing on top of them. So the smell went into the washing and also made the room smell lovely.

I think that Tesco Value does a 586ml bottle vinegar for 19p and for a 2 litre sarsons for 2 Pounds. ( both Malt )

I would'nt put vinegar anywhere my washing machine to use as a wash or softner as it some how messed my pipes up!
Cant exactly explain  but a few here would agree too.

But apart from that its brilliant and cant do better joobs then a bottle of bleach!
