    Wow, that's brilliant Mrs P!

I'm moving house soon and will be switching suppliers accordingly. I've already used Quidco to get £100 of my virgin broadband for the year and was considering using it to get cashback on dual fuel.

Are you really allowed to switch every month and reap the special offers?

This sounds like the ultimate way to beat energy inflation if it works!

How can you switch every month when it takes longer than a month to process each transfer

I would advise that many problems can surface if you move too many times too quickly. As it takes 4-6 weeks for supplies to move, it can also take longer than this for all the info to be received . This can be compounded if any info is wrong ie a meter exchange has taken place. I am currently dealing with a case where the customer has moved supplier twice since leaving my company. Somewhere along the way her meter was changed before our supply and again since then. Not one of 4 companies have had the correct records.

The answer is only to move when you are being billed on the correct meter. Be aware that if you have had an exchange within a few weeks of moving suppliers that it is more than likely the info that has been sent to your new suppliers is incorrect so check it out.

  • i only go for online tarrifs, i also read my meters monthly, so i am able to move without fear of being wrongly billed... i do call up with my readings even if i dont have the account number, i just ask them to record it. eon is the slowest ive found and brit gas the easiest :)

I think what deanos was asking is how can you switch every month if it takes longer than 4 weeks to transfer (which it generally does!) You can't switch from a supplier that doesn't supply you yet. The transfer request will be refused on the basis of 'not our current customer'. If the transfer does not complete, quidco (or whatever cashback site you use) will not pay out.
