I would have thought the same as well. Dont feel daft as at least you are asking the right questions. I would have been very impolite to them, personally...
I only know of one thing, when my friend defaulted on her student loan, mackenzie hall came around..even they sent a letter. She did get her bank manager to come to the meeting as she was an executor for her mother who she was caring for at the time, and wanted to make sure all bases were covered so she could proove what she had been saying..Not all the facts i know, but the upshot of it all was that even the bank manager couldn't believe how rude they were and managed to send them away with a flea in their ear..so if someone of that ilk had trouble, what chances do us mere mortals have?Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
If i came to your door asking for money and your bank details would you give them to me? No you wouldn't.
These people have as much power as I do i.e. none.
If he comes back tell him to get lost and deal with Black Horse in writing ask them what is going on (don't admit anything though) and tell them not to send anyone else to your home.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013

It was most likely a customer service rep who actually works for Blackhorse - cases go out to them when they meet certain criteria. As far as I remember ( worked for BH until recently) then they don't have to notify you of a visit. If it is just a CSR then you won't have been charged for the visit ( although if you are in arrears there are probably fees being applied to your account anyway which are steep)
In terms of default notice, this is issued automatically when you are 20-odd days in arrears ( i can't remember if its 24 or 27 now) and is normally valid for several months, although they wouldn't need to reissue one before visiting even if it was out of date. This only becomes an issue if they try to take further action such as repossessing a car in which case its needed.
Hope this helps - any questions just ask0 -
Don't deal with them on the doorstep they have no power whether they work for Black Horse or not. Write to them and ask what is going on and to stop sending agents to your house.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013
