My daughter has the above machine. A fault has developed on the machine which will not allow 'start up'. When the machine is initially switched on an alarm sounds, with the mesages at the bottom of the screen:-
"press (esp) to change boot order"
"press (f10) to enter setup"
What should I do??? (Otherthan the obvious "take to to be repaired).
I woud be grateful for any advice.

At that prompt, press esc (esp?) to change boot order, and make sure that the hard disc (which will probably be listed as IDE-0) is the first option. Make sure there are no other CD-ROMs / disks in any other drives and ports.
It sounds like the battery which normally allows the computers BIOS settings to be held is running / has run low.
If the above don't fix it, come back for more.Russia is HERE0 -
I have tried the above. It did not solve the problem, so the laptop is now in the hands of the local computer store.
Thanks againLic.0
