I am considering selling my property, but do not agree wth the theft of my money by HIPs.
Can I advertise that I am considering selling, and, subject to the degree of interest, I will then decide what course I will then take. In the current climate, I do not feel confident in instructing an agent and incurring expenditure that may not result in a sale.
Also, is there a DIY route for HIPs?

No you can't advertise it saying you're thinking about it.
Yes you can DIY.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It's hardly theft! My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. I've gone over it so many times I got bored and I generally got the feeling I was talking to people who didn't really care . If you do want to DIY then I am more than happy to offer all the help I can if you want to ask more questions. . It seems really hard when you start out but once you've done it once, you could do it again with your eyes closed Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth. Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

As Doozer says, it is quite easy to do yourself. I had done loads for agents and solicitors. If you need any help, just ask.0

I also started athread about HIPs. Same situation really.. Not sure we want to sell but are at risk really (£200 extra a month come August! )
A few people have suggested HIP websites:
"I've just ordered mine through HIP Team 1
 http://www.hip-team-1.co.uk/index.html
Mine's a leasehold so was £263 inc VAT, but freehold are £233 inc VAT, cheaper than £300.
If you go to the HIP website, it gives you details on how to build your own pack - http://www.homeinformationpacks.gov...._own_Pack.html"
 "slightly cheaper through nethouseprices
 http://www.nethouseprices.com/"
Hope these help.. I'll probably bite the bullet and put it up and use nethouseprices... x0

Thanks for the info all ... I had a skim over the DIY option. From yours and Doozers comments it sounds like a simple thing to do.
If I had to do it all myself, how much would you say it costs all inclusive?0

According to one of the posts above, that is not a long way off from the quotes received from a company. Taking your time, phone calls, photocoping etc. into consideration, I just wonder if it really that much of a savings.
But then, I guess it all depends on the property. My next door neighbour is paying £450.FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0
