How are benefits calculated after marriage?

My partner and I are getting married at the end of July. I work full-time, but my partner is on various benefits as he has a mental illness (please don't ask me which ones as I've lost track!). I know that he receives income support, disability living allowance and, I think, housing benefit. However, he's worried that he will lose his benefits once we're married as they will be means-tested on our joint income. Is this true?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Incapacity benefit and DLA are non means tested benefits. He will lose the housing benefit though as I assume you'll be living together? Not sure about the IS?MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Hi Toffeelover,
Why not post your question on the benefits board. I think you will find the answers will be found over there.0 -
He will lose his income support and HB if you work full time (although you may still get a bit of HB if you are on a ridiculously low wage).
He will not loose his DLA though, as that is not means tested and people can often receive DLA even if they work themselves.
I have to say, I find it odd you are getting married in a months time and do not have a full picture of your OH's illness(es). Perhaps it's just me though.0
