Moneysupermarket.com Cashback Warning
I don't know if this has already been highlighted, but I do think it is v important Martin :money: puts a highlight on the weekly email that Moneysupermarket.com only offer the cashback via a cashback website, not directly through them (see quote below):
Taken from: http://www.moneysupermarket.com/utilities/cashback.aspx
With effect from 1st April 2008 cashback is only available for customers accessing our service via a cashback website (such sites will have a receive up to £30 cashback banner towards the top of the screen).
I know Martin mentions about looking at cashback sites but I don't think it should be promoted that moneysupermarket.com offer the cashback direct as they don't.
I checked moneysupermarket.com on quidco and found that E:On who I was changing to (on a fixed rate) offered more money back (£55) :T than moneysupermarket.com (£30).

This isn't unique to moneysupermarket.com. If you don't use the links through MSE, you may not get the offer promoted on this site.
Use the links Martin & his team have provided and not only will you get the cashback/champagne advertised, but in most cases MSE benefits too. In the spirit of no advertising on MSE, Martin does also include direct links in articles for those who are adverse to MSE benefiting (why anyone who uses MSE would be against MSE benefiting, beats me, but it is very fair that the direct links are made available), but only when a direct link does not affect the offer made.
See the bottom of the gas & electricity article for further details on MSE affiliate links:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/you-switch-gas-electricity
All MSE affiliate links are clearly denoted by an asterisk. A direct link to moneysupermarket.com is not included as it would affect the offer being promoted.
You may get more cashback direct from a cashback site rather than a switching site, as the cashback site does not offer the comparison service."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Thanks for your message but I'm confused.
If you follow MSE link to moneysupermarket.com website you still have to sign up to a cash back website (as per MSM.com terms and conditions, from 1 April 2008), outside of moneysupermarket.com, to get the £30 from MSM.com so the link via MSE wouldn't count as it would be through a cashback site and not MSM.com.
PS the cashback site is just the lynch pin to track your switch (which gets you the cashback) with moneysupermarket.com, therefore, the comparison is still through moneysupermarket.com but you just have to jump through another hoop (and sign up with another website) before you get there.
Hope this makes sense? I'm tired0 -
Use the link to moneysupermarket.com above in the gas & electricity resource bar (or any link in the article on gas & electric) and you will be entitled to a £30 cashback on successful switch.
If you use a third party cashback site, you can't use the link on MSE.
If you go direct to moneysupermarket.com rather than through the link on MSE you won't get any cashback
For the purposes of moneysupermarket.com, MSE is considered a referring cashback website.
