...BUT the simple fact is, I don't know one person who has downloaded firefox, got used to it, and then said "Wait, I much prefer IE" and moved back. Not one :)

I've used both IE7 & FF2, but generally stick with IE7. I know it's less secure, but FF2 seems noticeably more sluggish than IE7. Is FF3 any better?

In fact, if I tried looking at the source code for either of those [Opera or IE], I'd probably go to prison.

Surely not - you'd need to break the law to be sent to prison. Looking at source code would at worst be a breach of contract... Wouldn't it?

FF 3 is much faster, the only problem I had is with the mailto feature because it won't work with gmail, there is a fix though which is in another thread.
Don't know where the idea of Opera being free came form, it cost me 300wii points:rotfl:

I might give it a try then. I assume it can't co-exist with FF2 on the same PC?

To look at their source code, I'd have to break into their offices. It was a pretty rubbish joke, but go easy on me, I've not talked to anyone all day.

Although you didn't mention why Opera is your first choice....

I was not aware I had to as OP asked for alternative, which I gave

However if it concerns you my reasons are the same as CHR15, which are

    Reasons

    Magic Wand
    Speed Dial
    Goto URL
    Paste and Go

all of these can be made to work in Firefox through plugins/addons (but for some reason don't feel as good)

Plus it is very easy, one click, to turn off images & fit to width in Opera

Also agree the opera interim update is iffy & have kept with my older version

Farway, apologies if you took my reply in a bad way :) It was more of a "I'd like to know why you like Opera" type question :)

I mean afterall, if someone said "get this model of car" the first thing I'd say is "Why?" :P

Opera is much lighter than Firefox. Faster too at rendering, although you probably won't notice any difference.

Plus in Kestrel (9.5) it'll have sync features integrated.
