CV Help.....

Options
Hi apologies if firstly this is the wrong place to be asked and/or it is a well covered topic as i have tried the search function with no luck.

I have just finished my 3rd year of a BSc degree and whilst i wait for results i am looking to basically get a summer job, the problem is i have never had a proper CV done as i have always worked for family.

When looking down the usual search routes i seem to find very 'americanized' examples does anybody have any links for a good sample template/example of a CV that i can have a look at.

Any help would be greatly appreciated............:T

Pop into the careers department at your uni as they will offer advice, and possibly sit down with you and help you put it together as well. They do that at my uni at least.

You should get free careers advice from your university for up to a year (maybe more) after graduating, so pop in, or give them a ring.

Given there are SO many graduates nowadays, I cannot emphasise how important relevant WORK EXPERIENCE is on your CV...

    Name
    Address
    Phone Number
    Email

    1) Profile (write a paragraph or two about you and your skills - be precise and don't waffle)

    2) Education - starting with latest stuff (degree) at the top, then A Levels, GCSEs...

    3) Work Experience (Company name, dates, and description of what you did. New paragraph for each bit of work experience)

    4) Personal Details (Date of Birth, Nationality, driving license full clean)

    5) Any training undertaken (project management course, excel masterclass etc...)

    6) Hobbies and Interests - don't put boring stuff. Try and include things that reflect your personality that might make you stand out i.e. belly dancing, welly wanging champion etc...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

prospects has all the info you need, although personal advice from the careers service, as bestpud has suggested, will also be incredibly useful.
