Chipped Windscreen
Options
As the title suggests I got a chip on my windscreen last night on the way home home from work. It hasn't cracked, but it has put a chip in the windscreen.
What do I do now? Do I just go get it fixed myself? Do I ring my insurance for a whole new screen?
I am clueless when it comes to things like this

If you have comprehensive cover and it can be repaired (special resin glue injected) you normally wont pay any excess - check you policy.
If it cant be repaired then again comprehensive should include windscreen cover but you will probably have an excess.
Check you policy as they use different windscreen companies to do the repair/replacement.0 -
If your insurance is fully comp a repair will be free a replacement will be ~£50-60 excess (no it doesn't affect your no claims).
If you aren't fully comp then the cost is with you and you can decide if you need to get it fixed or not. An MOT fail for a chip in the windscreen is when it is in the drivers main field of view or something like that0 -

More and more insurers are making a charge for htis service now, Directline £10 for example, wifey works for Autowindscreens so have a bit of insider info.;)
Plus don't go direct to the fixer or they will charge.:money:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Cheers guys.
Much appreciated.
It's right in the bottom corner of the passenger side so not obstructing my vision in anyway.
Shall have a read of my policy tonight and give them a call."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"

Direct Line do tell you to go direct to autoglass who take your policy details and handle the rest for you collecting the £10 charge from you at the time of fix.0

Some repairers want the money up front, then you have to hope that you get it back, eventually. They don't seem to mention that in the adverts....0
